Policies
To ease congestion and increase student safety before and after school, the staff at CDA has created a drop off and pick up procedure for our families. It will be implemented beginning on the first day of school.
As in all things, we strive to maintain an atmosphere of love and forgiveness, especially in the area of discipline. It is our intention through these policies to restore problem students into fellowship with their fellow students and their elders. It is our further intention to foster a classroom environment that encourages learning. Above all else in these matters, we seek to ensure that God is glorified through our actions and the actions of our students.
It is critical that you keep your ill student home. If your student has a fever, cough, or frequent runny nose that would be disruptive to learning, he/she will need to stay home. A student must be vomit and fever-free without the use of medication for 24 hours prior to returning to school.
Students often need some amount of extra practice in specific, new concepts, skills, or facts. In certain subjects (e.g. math or languages), there is not enough time in a school day to do as much practice as may be necessary for mastery. Therefore, after reasonable in-class time is spent on the material, the teacher may assign homework to allow for the necessary practice.
Rationale: Our uniform policy is driven by a desire to create and promote an environment where dress is not a distraction to the educational process. Several key principles to keep in mind:
We believe that the discipline of faithful school attendance will give you greater freedom from worry as your child matures. Every day then is very important. Please strive for 100% attendance records for your children.
The objective of this policy is to establish biblical guidelines for the resolution of disputes and grievances in the operation of CDA. These guidelines are to be followed whenever there is a dispute or grievance concerning any aspect of CDA’s operations between any two parties connected in a direct way to the school. This includes students, parents, staff, volunteers, administration, and board.
Personal electronic devices are not allowed to be used by students during school hours on campus, including the before/after car line. Teachers may use their discretion to allow use in special cases.
Each family that has at least one child enrolled at CDA is asked to provide 20 hours of volunteer service per semester. Instead of volunteer hours, a family may contribute $25 for each hour not served ($500 per semester). We do not view the financial option as a penalty, just an alternative. Your contribution of time OR money helps our school function and continue to grow.
Please respect the rules of the host church.
